Toyota Hilux Review

The Toyota is a spacious pick-up truck with a very generous amount of cargo space. The Hilux is very famous for its “indestructible” design – this has been tested and shown by the popular British TV series “Top Gear”, where the car was put through vigorous tests such as dropped from a building, hit with heavy demolition equipment, washed away by the sea, and stored on a building which was demolished; after all this abuse the Hilux was still able to work!

The Hilux is extremely reliable and very durable as stated above with its unbelievable achievement of surviving such vigorous tests. Toyota’s Hilux is one of the best pick-up trucks money can buy.

Advantages

∙ Moderate performance

∙ Very reliable

∙ Very spacious

∙ Good equipment

∙ Good handling

Disadvantages

∙ Only two airbags

∙ Not very refined (lots of wind and road noise)

∙ No Deadlocks

Toyota Worlds Top Seller 3 consecutive year!

Toyota Motor Corp. warded off Volkswagen and General Motors to remain the world’s top-selling auto-maker for a third consecutive year, driven by record U.S. deliveries of its SUVs, according to the 2014 tally.

High demand for SUVs such as the RAV4 and the mid-sized Highlander have pushed Toyota ahead of its competition again and again.

Toyota reportedly planning a Hothatch

Toyota is reportedly making a Hothatch, after Toyota’s announcement to return to the World Rally Championship in 2017, which will spawn a road going version of its Yaris which is going to be used in the rally.

Reports are that the Yaris will be powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces a staggering 235bhp; all of this power will be channelled through the front wheels.

With the Yaris being a very light vehicle, with its reported 235bhp powerhouse engine it is set to be an incredibly fast pocket-rocket!

There are some key points when importing a car that are often overlooked, turning them into mistakes which are easily avoided; here I’m going to talk about these mistakes and how to avoid them.

Mistake 1

Buying a vehicle when it has obvious defects such as visible rust spots; if the vehicle has been exposed to roads that have been salted to de-ice them, the vehicle’s under-body may have rust issues which can lead to some seriously costly repair bills or worrying safety issues. To avoid any rust issues, be sure to check pictures of the vehicle carefully. If there are no photographs of the vehicle’s under-body where rust issues are the most important to check for as they can affect the structural integrity, do not be afraid to ask the dealer to provide them. Any reputable dealer will happily meet your request to provide you with photographs and information that you need.

Mistake 2

Check your country’s emission standards, especially with older model cars that you are looking to import, as these cars will need to be modified to comply with the standards your country has set. To check the emissions, again do not be afraid to ask the dealer to supply the information and inquire about the standards that need to be met.

Other Important issues to avoid

Be sure to avoid vehicles that drive on the opposite side of the road such as being a left hand drive (LHD) vehicle in a right hand drive (RHD) country; although it’s not impossible to drive a vehicle which has the steering system on the opposite side it is much more difficult and can lead to some safety issues. Overtaking is much more difficult if you are on the opposite side of the norm as you cannot see oncoming traffic or obstacles.

With this in mind head on over to www.realmotor.jp to check out their excellent stock of Japanese imports!

How to search for import vehicles

Publised : 11:36 05 / 11 / 2015

Searching for a vehicle is very simple; if there is a particular type of vehicle you want to purchase such as a “hatchback” body type, most websites allow you to do this by having a search box which allows you to search by a vehicles body type so you can select the body type through what is typically a scroll down list. Body types you can commonly search by are: hatchback, coupé, sedan, or SUV – of course there are more types but these are just to name a few.

Another search feature allows you to search by the cars production year, which means you can search for a car that was produced in 1999 for example; if you like older generation cars, this allows you to easily narrow down your search for your particular generation of cars.

Finally you can search by the make and model, which means if you are looking for a select brand of car such as a Toyota you can narrow your search to show you just the Toyotas that are available for purchase from the import dealer. You can narrow this search further by looking for a specific Model such as the Toyota Hilux; this search will show you only the Toyota Hiluxs available for purchase from the dealers website.

The Japanese automotive industry is one of the most prominent and largest industries in the world. Japan has been in the top three of the countries with most cars manufactured since the 1960s, surpassing Germany. The automotive industry in Japan rapidly increased from the 1970s to the 1990s when the production was oriented for both domestic use and worldwide export.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Japan’s automotive production overtook the U.S. as leader with up to 13 million cars manufactured per year and a significant number of exports.

After massive ramp-up by China in the 2000s and fluctuating U.S. output, Japan is now currently the third largest automotive producer in the world with an annual production of 9.9 million automobiles in 2012.

Japanese investments helped grow the auto industry in many countries throughout the last few decades, with companies like Toyota and Nissan opening manufacturing factories and creating jobs and work for the countries it has placed factories in.

Japan is home to a number of companies that manufacture and produce cars, construction vehicles, motorcycles, ATVs, and engines. Japanese automotive manufacturers include Toyota, Honda, Daihatsu, Nissan, Suzuki, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Isuzu, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Mitsuoka.

Cars designed in Japan and made by one of its many automotive companies have won the European Car of the Year, International Car of the Year, and World Car of the Year awards many times.

What is a SUV?

Publised : 11:44 05 / 08 / 2015

Unsure what a SUV is or why you should consider buying one? I’m here to help. SUV is the short name for a sport utility vehicle or suburban utility vehicle. Vehicles in this class are similar to a station wagon or estate car. SUVs are usually equipped with four-wheel drive systems for on or off-road ability. Some SUVs include the towing capacity of a pick-up truck with the passenger-carrying space of a minivan or large sedan.

A SUV also goes by other names such as “four-by-four”, “off roader”, or brand names such as “jeep” and “land rover” are also used to describe a SUV.

Not all SUVs have four-wheel drive however, as some SUVs are designed to just be used in urban environments such as towns and cities; these vehicles usually come with a more town orientated set-up.

A typical set-up for an urban orientated SUV is a shorter wheel base, two-wheel drive, or at least a system that allows you to change the amount of wheels used to power the vehicle. Two-wheel drive allows for better fuel economy; with less wheels being powered less fuel is being used to move the vehicle.

The benefits of purchasing a SUV over a car are that you have extra space for both cargo and passengers, a higher driving position so you can be more aware of what’s going on around your vehicle, the safety of a sturdier vehicle, and finally the added ability to drive in more extreme conditions with ease.

What to do when Selecting a Vehicle

Publised : 11:40 05 / 08 / 2015

Having trouble selecting a car? Don’t worry we have all been there. Selecting a new vehicle can be a daunting task, as you may need to live with your new vehicle for a long period of time and you may be worrying about making the wrong choice.
I am going to talk about how to quell these worries, and help make your choice a little easier for you.
First of all let’s start to think about what vehicle you need:

1 Firstly are you in a line of work that needs a lot of cargo space?
If yes then you may want to consider a pick-up truck or even a van, as both of these vehicles offer a large amount of cargo space. This has the benefit of not taking up passenger room as a consequence, as with a car you may have to fold seats away to store larger items.

2 Do you need a lot of passenger space?
If you have a large family or group that you need to be able to transport to your destination then considering a MPV, Mini-Bus or 7 seat SUV is a valid option. You can consider how many passengers you would have on a daily basis; if you would generally have 5 occupants with the occasional need for 2-3 extra passengers then an MPV or 7 seat SUV would be your options, as these vehicles allow the rear seats to fold away and create a larger cargo space which may be a great convenience to you.
If you are going to have 7 or more on a daily basis then a mini-bus would be your best option as it will have the space needed to adequately fit all your passengers with room for cargo such as luggage or equipment.

3 Do you want performance?
We all want our vehicle to take us from A to B but sometimes you want to get to your destination that little bit quicker right? If you consider yourself a fan of performance cars or just like having extra power in your vehicle then consider a performance sedan, coupé, or maybe even a hothatch! These are the options where you could find your dream car.

With this new knowledge in mind you may have narrowed down the search for your new vehicle, so i suggest heading over to my friends at www.realmotor.jp and browsing their stock to find your dream vehicle now!

Why import a car?

Publised : 19:08 04 / 30 / 2015

Importing a car has many advantages besides the benefit of being cheaper; some of these advantages are that you can sometimes have better equipment on a foreign model car and you may even get your hands on an unusual model that’s not available in your country’s market.

Japanese imports in particular can be a great way to get hold of a car that’s built to a higher specification than the available version in your country, or if it’s not available to you at all, or only available in your country via a long waiting list, and it may be cheaper than your country’s equivalent.

An imported car may typically have less miles or kilometres driven, as in Japan people tend to rely on public transport systems, use bicycles or scooters or simply walk instead of using their personal vehicles.

With less distance travelled by the vehicle it means the vehicle parts have been less worn; which means the vehicle has a lot of life left in its parts, so it won’t need maintenance due to parts being worn out or exposed to the elements, so no need to worry about rust.

Popular Cars in Africa

Popularity of imports in South Africa is growing; as such a lot of the most popular imports into South Africa are Japanese imports, here are the top 3 Japanese car imports and top 5 Japanese truck imports during the year 2014:

Cars

1 Toyota Corolla/Auris/Quest

2 Toyota Etios

3 Toyota Fortuner

Trucks

4 Toyota Hilux

5 Nissan NP200

6 Toyota Quantum

7 Nissan NP300

8 Toyota Land Cruiser PU

Toyota is the top selling car company in South Africa as seen with how many times a Toyota made vehicle appears on the 2 lists above.
In January to November 2014 Toyota had sold almost 28,000 Hilux vehicles. Open back trucks known locally as “bakkies” account for half of the country’s top-selling vehicles falling into the utility category, including the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Nissan NP200, Chevrolet Utility and the Isuzu KB.

Many of these popular models are available on my personal favourite importer www.realmotor.jp – feel free to check it out for yourself.

How to import a vehicle

Publised : 18:00 04 / 27 / 2015

Importing a vehicle is easier than it sounds; there are many ways to start importing a vehicle, but I would suggest that you start by thinking about what type or model of vehicle do you want and how much of a budget do you have to spend on said vehicle.

After deciding what vehicle you want to import, you can search the stock of import companies that deliver to your country; using the website you have selected proceed to inquire about the chosen vehicle. Using an import dealer is a lot easier and stress free than attempting to import the car yourself – in some countries it is actually illegal.

As laws around the standards of vehicles vary per country, such as standards about emissions and safety regulations, using an import dealer is highly recommended in these situations if you find yourself lacking knowledge on your import’s specifications and differences in your country’s laws and vehicle regulations. Most import dealers will help to insure that your new vehicle meets the standards of its designated country, which is very helpful and avoids any stress that could be caused.

I would highly recommend using www.realmotor.jp for your import, so please feel free to check out their website now!
